Mill River Park

The Mill River Park, "as is" , without carousel or ice skating rink or other man made obstruction is very inviting.

In The Early Morning!
Note the native fall flowers in purple

This is the "Purple" Pedestrian bridge - closed by a state inspector for some odd reason - note that it is with standing much debris left by the Hurricane and Tropical storm damage - much more of a problem than a few pedestrians!

for historical pictures of the park, and the construction phase, take a look at themillriver.com

I couldn't agree with you more. We do NOT need giant topiary frog bathrooms (with glowing eyes), marble sidewalks, and a space-age bridge. This is New England. An interactive water feature or two would be nice for the kids but I say: plant more native trees, create a wildlife-friendly habitat, and concrete's fine for the sidewalks.

FYI: a problem with removing the debris: when they re-did the Park, they forgot to leave access for bridge maintenance - we used to have a ramp for heavy equipment to get down there to clean the debris out twice a year.
