Strangeness during Irene

Last night we lost one tree - a Poplar tree - no damage to house, but since that one sways with the winds and has never had damage before I was not expecting it.  It did take out a smaller, older lillac and some of my garden.
Other strangeness - i still have dish TV - no problems, but my neighbors cable is out.
Go figure!
