I got to ride through the autumn leaves the other day,
the leaves were turning
and i know why the colors of red
and orange
and yellow
and even greens
have so many hues.
The scarlet and ruby and flame and rose of the reds.
The golden and sunshine or the yellows.
The oranges with traces of burnt umber or pumpkin and gold, all were so well represented.
The only thing i dislike about this season,
is its shortness!

I've felt this, Joey, but for some reason this year I get to prolong my appreciation. Not because the leaves have stayed. They are gone. But because this year for the first time I am noticing the undergrowth and the scrub, the bare bones of the tree and the crow, and I still gasp. I rather like this new state I am in. And somehow too, the brevity of it all, gives it potency. Isn't that the way in life?
